The Polka Office

Set within a heritage building on Rampart Road in Kala Ghoda, this law office pairs the character of an old South Mumbai address with a distinctly contemporary sensibility. Flooded with natural light, it frames striking views of the dome of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya.

Yayoi Kusama’s immersive world became the unlikely inspiration for the conference room — a space now defined by bold polka dots that bring energy and playfulness to an otherwise restrained setting. The effect is deliberate: a single room that surprises, set against a calm, curated backdrop.

Elsewhere, colour appears in unexpected moments — a green library unit, a coral accent, red and white stripes glimpsed through shelving — each one carefully placed to offer visual relief without overwhelming the space. The design walks a fine line between restraint and expression, knowing exactly where to stop.
