The project

A heritage structure in Mumbai was carefully stripped back and restored to create a healing centre rooted in calm, craft and quiet intention. The original arches, high ceilings and exposed rafters were preserved and repaired with painstaking care, allowing the character of the building to lead the design.

The restoration was painstaking. Workers took extreme care with the original rafters; many sections needed individual attention and took days. Everything was brought back to its original state — not reimagined, but revealed.

The meditation space is deliberately pared back: all-white interiors, diffused light, and a stillness that lets the architecture speak. The counselling rooms, by contrast, are warm and informal — a space to settle into, with soft seating, a quiet pantry corner, and the feeling of someone’s home rather than a clinic.

The project was ultimately about restraint — knowing what to keep, what to strip away, and where to let the building do the work.
