The project

Designed for a couple who share a passion for deep-sea diving, this 1,550 sq ft second home was conceived purely for hosting. Shipwreck objects — a ship’s wheel, a salvaged porthole, brass fittings — set an eclectic, storied tone from the entrance, and most of the decor is repurposed from the clients’ own collection.

The half-open kitchen is designed for interaction: the simple joy of enjoying a meal while your spouse is cooking, lingering around the cooktop. The living room is bright and airy, glass doors opening to a balcony, with a painting by Shishir Shinde of the clients’ own diving trips taking centre stage.

The games room takes a more industrial turn, while the nautical palette carries through the tiles into the den. Comfortable materials, interesting shapes and impactful details make every corner of the apartment a space for conversation and lounging.

Mid-century forms, old-English details and salvaged pieces come together in a home that is informal, layered and unmistakably personal.
